What the work involves
You would see older adults: late-life depression and anxiety, mood changes with medical illness, memory concerns and the behavioral symptoms that accompany them, and end-of-life care. New patients start with a 50-minute psychiatric evaluation; follow-up and medication management visits run 25 minutes. Visit length is your call, and longer, unhurried visits are the norm here rather than the exception.
Care at Prescribed Wellness is medication management with attention to sleep, nutrition, movement and stress, and coordination with the patient's other physicians when it helps. Weekly case conferences with colleagues and invited expert speakers are part of the week, not an extra.
What the geriatric practice looks like
We are in network with Medicare, both Original and Medicare Advantage, so older patients can be seen without a cash barrier, and the practice already sees Medicare patients. Video visits from home are covered for most of these patients, which matters for people who no longer drive.
The work is outpatient: careful medication review in the context of polypharmacy and medical comorbidity, coordination with primary care and neurology, and support for families.
How the schedule and location work
The position is Monday to Friday, and within that you set your own hours. There are no corporate quotas and no productivity targets handed down from a health system. You choose how you see patients: in person at the Barham Blvd office, off the 101 between Universal City and Toluca Lake with parking in the building; a hybrid week that mixes office days and telehealth days; or fully remote by secure video with patients anywhere in California.
Because California licensure governs where patients can be during a video visit, this is a California-only telehealth role. You can live anywhere in the state.
What the practice handles for you
Dedicated administrative support: scheduling, intake, prior authorizations, refill requests and patient messages.
Billing and credentialing. The practice is in network with Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, Optum, UnitedHealthcare and Medicare, and handles claims and collections.
Malpractice insurance.
Furnished office space at 3800 Barham Blvd for in-person days.
Weekly case conferences and expert speakers.
Compensation
$450,000 to $600,000 per year on a 1099 basis, depending on the schedule you choose and your patient volume. Because the practice absorbs administrative, billing and malpractice costs, the figure reflects clinical work rather than overhead. As an independent contractor you are responsible for your own taxes and benefits. We discuss the exact structure openly in the first conversation, before either side invests time in interviews.
Who we are looking for
MD or DO, board-certified or board-eligible in geriatric psychiatry.
Active, unrestricted California medical license and current DEA registration.
Comfortable running video visits and documenting in an electronic record.
Interest in longer visits and thoughtful medication management rather than volume.
Spanish-speaking physicians are especially welcome; many of our patients ask for care in Spanish. It is not a requirement.
We are deeply committed to diversity in our providers and our patients, and we encourage physicians from all backgrounds to apply.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a 1099 or W-2 position?
1099. Physicians at Prescribed Wellness Psychiatry work as independent contractors. The practice provides administrative staff, billing, malpractice coverage and furnished office space; you handle your own taxes and benefits, as with any contractor role.
Can I work fully remote?
Yes. You can work in person at 3800 Barham Blvd in Los Angeles, on a hybrid schedule, or fully remote by secure video from anywhere in California. Patients must be located in California during video visits, which is why an active California license is required.
What is the schedule?
Monday to Friday, with the hours and visit lengths set by you. There are no volume quotas. If you are looking for fewer than five days, say so in your application and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
What does the role pay?
Compensation is $450,000 to $600,000 per year, paid on a 1099 basis, depending on your schedule and patient volume. The exact structure is discussed in the first conversation.
When does the position start?
The start date is flexible and set together with you. The posting stays open until the role is filled, and we review every application directly rather than through a recruiter.
Is malpractice insurance covered?
Yes. Malpractice insurance, billing and administrative support are handled by the practice so you can focus on patient care.
